VUML is a native macOS application for architecture modelling. It is designed with privacy as a foundational principle. VUML collects no personal data, transmits no telemetry, and performs no tracking of any kind.
VUML does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. Specifically:
All data created within VUML — including project files, diagrams, and application preferences — is stored exclusively on the user's local machine. VUML does not upload, sync, or replicate data to any remote server or cloud service.
The user retains full ownership and control of all data at all times.
The Mac App Store version of VUML makes no network requests whatsoever. All functionality operates entirely offline.
The direct purchase version of VUML includes Sparkle, an open-source update framework, which periodically checks for software updates. This check contacts the VUML appcast URL to determine whether a newer version is available. No personal data is transmitted during this process. No information about the user, their system, or their usage of VUML is collected or sent.
Users may disable automatic update checks in the application preferences.
VUML does not integrate with, or transmit data to, any third-party services, APIs, or platforms — with the sole exception of the Sparkle update check described above.
VUML does not collect data from any user, including children. Because no personal information is gathered, VUML complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations in other jurisdictions.
Should this privacy policy be updated, the revised version will be published alongside the application. Given that VUML collects no data, material changes to this policy are unlikely.
